You can obtain a dog license by coming into the Town Office at 32 Main Street.
The baseline price to register your dog is $6. If your dogs are not spayed or neutered, that fee becomes $11. If your dog is more than six months old, and you've never registered it, you will be charged an additional $25 late fee on top of the regular registration fees. You cannot register your dog if you don't have proof of a current rabies vaccination, and you must provide a spay/neuter certificate in order to obtain the lesser fee. All dog licensing fees are set by the State of Maine, and fees collected support state and local animal welfare programs.
If your dog has been deemed a "dangerous" dog by a court of law, then you will have to pay a $100 registration fee per year. If your dog has been deemed a "nuisance" dog by court of law, then you'll have to pay a $30 registration fee per year. Learn more about this topic here.
