1) Public Works Department:

2) Animal Control Officer

The Town of Stonington has a job opening for an Animal Control Officer.   This person will operate on an hourly basis and report to the Stonington Town Manager.  The Animal Control Officer is responsible for the following duties: 1) Enforce the Animal Control Laws of the State of Maine within the boundaries of Stonington. 2) Within six months of appointment become certified by the State of Maine as an Animal Control Officer. 3) Serve warnings to dog owners who fail to register their dogs in accordance with state law by January 31st each year. 4) Investigate, prepare a report, and deliver said report to the proper authorities in regard to all animal bite and abuse reports in accordance with state statute.  5) When practical, transport stray animals to the designated town animal shelter.  Job applications are available on the front page of this website, stoningtonmaine.org.  Please send applications to: Town of Stonington, PO Box 9, Stonington, Maine, 04681, or email to townmanager@stoningtonmaine.org.  The Town of Stonington is an Equal Opportunity Employer.  This position will remain open until filled.

3) Planning Board Secretary

4) Town Clerk

The Town of Stonington is seeking to fill the permanent full-time position of Town Clerk and Deputy Treasurer/Tax Collector.  This is responsible administrative and fiscal work supporting the Town Manager and Selectboard.

 Overview: This position is responsible for the coordination of elections and voter registration in accordance with applicable laws of the State of Maine.  Work invovles assisting with collection and recording of payments and fees as they relate to the office of the Town Clerk/Treasurer/Tax Collector; the issuance of various licenses, certificates, permits, and maintaining the information system for the Town's official records.  The employee will also assist in the full-service accounting tasks including but not limited to: accounts payable/receivable, payroll, internal auditing and controls, collection of real estate and personal property taxes, vehicle excise tax and registrations, hunting/fishing licenses, and other counter work.  This position works closely with the Town Manager to prepare the annual operating and capital budget, the Town Report and Audit Preparation, using Quickbooks/TRIO Municipal software.
