BURN PILE REQUIREMENTS
Due to the increased amounts of brush and wood debris coming into the burn pile, and the cost for ash removal, The Town of Stonington charges the following rates for incoming loads:
1-ton loads/large truck/large trailer: $35/load
Small utility trailer/standard pickup: $15/load or at Transfer Station attendant's discretion.
Brush will only be taken from 12-4 pm. No logs, stumps or firewood will be accepted. No mixing loads with brush and logs. Nothing over 4 inches in diameter will be taken.
It is strongly recommended to check with Transfer attendants or answering machine before coming to the dump to see if burn pile is open. The Transfer Station phone number is 367-5996.
The Town will continue to bill contractors or homeowners if they wish to do so, or don't have the money at the time of disposal. A sign-in sheet for disposal/billing is available from the Transfer Station attendant. Please make sure your address is correct! Non-payment of fees will result in loss of Transfer Station privileges. Resident dump stickers and contractors disposal permits are available at the Town Office.
Barrels at the front of the office doors are for the Bottle Fund Scholarship. The money collected supports the education of local students.
